Darwin Homes

www.darwinhomes.com

Site reviewed: 10/05/03

Summary of site: A new concept in the property market is currently gaining momentum in this country with a number of companies springing up encouraging home owners to sell their properties privately. They are known as ‘property brokers’ and 1 in 10 house sales in the UK are now completed without the use of an estate agent. This website shows you how.
Design:

The design is generally good with good navigation. You know what this site is all about the moment you visit the homepage. Perhaps a white background would suite the site better as the beige seems a little out dated. The site loads quickly even on a slow connection.

Navigation / Usability:

The site has a simple and user-friendly navigation system. The same navigation system is visible on every page and it is very easy to navigate between the various sections.

It was very easy to find what we were looking for. This is due to the navigation system being present on every page down the left hand side.

Content:

The copy on this site is generally well written in an easy to read friendly manner. The homepage tells the user straight away what the site does, which is good when you consider the interest span of the average surfer is about seven seconds. The information is informative and factual. There are some useful FAQ's and guides to selling your own home.

There is also a useful map and property search, although we found the search at the top right hand side of the page to be very difficult to see at first glance.
